Egypt, giant birds and cats, oh my!

-Do you suppose we'll meet any giant birds?

-Mmmm we might-

-Animals that eat c-c-c-cats?-

I have been working on my thesis project for the past months, but sometimes it is fun to change airs and draw something completely different! My advanced perspective class was the opportunity, the theme was Egypt and I just couldn't help thinking of a story with a small but brave kitten that ends up in a "temple of doom" type of adventure.

Here our kitten hero has arrived at the Bird Temple...

I love this part of The Wizard of Oz! (wink wink)

Isabella leaves her house and enters the world. Warm vs. cool colors.

The main Character of my thesis project is called Isabella. Here we see her leave her home, next to her faithful dog Jumbo, and setting into a great new adventure!

Her home is in warm colors just as she is, trying to show that is a safe place. She belongs in her house. The rest of the buildings are in cooler colors, so as she leaves home, she enters a not so familiar territory. With this design choices I wanted to help reinforce the feeling that she is not so safe stepping out in to the world.

Also, I love the houses from San Francisco, they were such a big influence while drawing this piece. Hope you guys enjoy this drawing!

Master copies series, Bunnies!! Original drawing by Beatrix Potter.

Art teachers keep telling us that sometimes copying the masters is the best way to learn and find your own style or voice. I haven't quite found mine but here is a master copy of my favorite drawing by Beatrix Potter, I did this a while ago.... 2012! (need to go back and practice more on traditional painting)

This copy now belongs to my former Japanese Language teacher (She is very dear to me <3!)

The image is from The Rabbits' Christmas party: "Roasting apples around the hearth"

Done in watercolor.

By the way, English is not my first language (not that it should be an excuse) so I had look up the meaning hearth: "The floor of a fireplace, usually extending into a room and paved with brick, flagstone or cement". -Just in case anyone was curious as I was.

Hello world!

Welcome to my blog!

Finally dared to open a blog and start posting my artwork! There are so many good artists out there it sometimes feels pointless to try to be one... But here I am going for it!
Special thanks to my friend Allentine for encouraging me to do this. I will be posting sketches, progress of my work, finalized work and pretty much anything I draw.

This is a piece for my thesis project at the Academy of Art University (From Advanced Perspective class with Joko Budiono).

Here are the two main characters about to enter a new adventure. I will post more about the story later! Felt this piece was appropriate since I was so terrified about posting my work online. All adventures seem scary at first! Let's see what is on the other side of the door...
